Sacrament of Confirmation
What is the Sacrament of Confirmation?
The Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church is a sacrament of initiation that strengthens and completes Baptism, giving the recipient the fullness of the Holy Spirit. It is administered by a bishop, or a delegated priest, through anointing with chrism oil and the laying on of hands, along with the words, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit". Confirmation strengthens a person's faith, deepens their relationship with God, and prepares them to witness to the faith.

"Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds."
— St. Thomas Aquinas
